The accused have been identified as Sahana Gourgounda and Omkar Gourgounda of Belagavi, along with London-based Mallesh Reddy, Adhyay Kohli and Mithila Sarkar.

According to the complaint, Ganga Mangle (28), a resident of Khadebazar in Shahapur and an employee of a private company in Bengaluru, was introduced to Sahana and Omkar through a relative. The duo allegedly assured him of securing an IT job in London for a fee of ₹19 lakh.

Believing the offer to be genuine, Mangle transferred ₹1 lakh to Sahana’s account in December 2024. He later obtained a ₹23 lakh loan from a Bengaluru bank to arrange the required funds and made additional payments of ₹6 lakh and ₹7 lakh to accounts linked to the other accused.

Police said the accused repeatedly assured Mangle that the recruitment process was progressing and sought more payments at different stages. However, despite receiving a total of ₹14 lakh, they neither provided the promised job nor refunded the money.

After repeated attempts to recover the amount failed, Mangle approached the police, alleging that he had been cheated.

Based on his complaint, Shahapur police have registered a case against all five accused under relevant sections related to cheating and fraud. Further investigation is underway.
