The proposals were discussed at a special board meeting on Thursday, chaired by Brigadier Girish Upadhyay. Belagavi MLA Asif Sait and Cantonment Board Chief Executive Officer Sudam Manchalwar attended the meeting.
Hospital to Strengthen Medical Services
Officials said the 30-bed hospital handles around 3,000 outpatients every month, admits 30 to 40 patients weekly and conducts two to three deliveries daily.
Board members emphasised the need to improve medical infrastructure, recruit additional doctors and staff, and introduce specialist services. The objective is to provide comprehensive treatment locally and refer patients to the Belagavi Institute of Medical Sciences (BIMS) or other hospitals only in critical cases.
The board discussed approaching the state government to depute specialist doctors and seeking financial assistance from charitable organisations and philanthropists to upgrade medical facilities.
Officials also said the possibility of expanding the hospital building would be considered if the existing premises were found inadequate. Members discussed developing the hospital along the lines of BIMS, with improved treatment facilities and additional specialists.

Road Works and Other Issues Reviewed
The meeting also reviewed ongoing road development projects within Cantonment limits. Members were informed that most projects had been completed, while work on Ramghat Road remained pending.
Other issues discussed included pension benefits for 161 employees, the possibility of establishing a women’s gym at one of three identified locations, and matters related to the board’s banking arrangements.
The proposed measures aim to strengthen healthcare delivery and improve access to medical services for residents in the Cantonment area.
