With businesses ranging from shops and workshops to small industries heavily dependent on electricity, frequent outages are disrupting operations and forcing owners to spend extra money on generators. Traders said that when power supply is unavailable, they are unable to keep workers engaged, resulting in financial losses.

Residents have also complained about frequent power cuts across different parts of the city and said HESCOM’s helpline often remains busy, making it difficult to register complaints.

Citizens questioned why power connections are disconnected promptly when electricity bills are delayed by just a few days, while the same level of urgency is not seen in maintaining uninterrupted supply.

According to HESCOM officials, a fault at the main power station supplying the city had led to interruptions. As power was being supplied through alternative routes, supply to one area had to be temporarily switched off to maintain supply elsewhere. The repair work has now been completed and power supply is expected to stabilise.

Arvind Gadgkar, City Executive Engineer, HESCOM, said the technical fault has been rectified and normal power supply will be restored across the city.

Power Cuts Hit Samarthnagar

Residents of Samarthnagar said they have been facing frequent power cuts for the past eight days. The prolonged outages are affecting small-scale industries and businesses in the area.

Residents said HESCOM officials cited limited power availability as the reason for the interruptions. Power cuts during night hours have also added to the inconvenience, leading to growing anger among residents.

Business owners and citizens have urged HESCOM to ensure reliable power supply and provide advance information whenever planned outages are necessary.
