Acting on a tip-off, a CCB team led by Police Inspector Manjunath Nayak conducted a raid in an open area behind a temple and arrested three Belagavi residents — Nil Narayan Ballari, Kapil Gajanan Hosurkar, and Akash Anand Salunkhe.

Besides the heroin, police recovered a motorcycle, three mobile phones, and cash. The total value of the seized property has been estimated at ₹10.31 lakh. A case has been registered at the Khade Bazar Police Station.

During preliminary questioning, the accused allegedly revealed that the heroin had been procured from a woman based in Mumbai. Police are now investigating possible interstate links between Belagavi, Maharashtra, and Goa, suspecting the trio may be part of a larger drug trafficking network.

Officials have intensified surveillance on suspected drug routes connecting Belagavi, Mumbai, and Goa and are working to identify other individuals involved in the supply chain.

Police Commissioner Bhushan Borase and Deputy Commissioner of Police Narayan Baramani commended the CCB team for the successful operation.
