Belagavi, September 9, 2026: The Directorate of Enforcement (ED) on Wednesday launched searches at 18 locations linked to Karnataka Public Works Department (PWD) Minister Satish Jarkiholi, his daughter and Congress MP Priyanka Jarkiholi, family members, associates and businesses connected to the Jarkiholi family.

The searches are being carried out at residences and other premises in Bengaluru, Belagavi and Gokak, among other locations. The agency is also searching premises linked to Y. Manjunath, a senior Excise Department official and Jarkiholi’s brother-in-law.

Fresh case against Satish Jarkiholi

The ED has confirmed that it has registered a fresh Enforcement Case Information Report (ECIR) against Satish Jarkiholi. The agency clarified that Wednesday’s searches are not connected to the earlier money-laundering investigation involving the Karnataka Excise Department and relate to an independent case.

In June 2026, the ED had conducted searches in connection with an alleged corruption and money-laundering case in the Excise Department. The agency had alleged an “organised syndicate involving public officials, intermediaries and private individuals engaged in systematic collection and distribution of bribes.”

According to the ED, some officials allegedly obtained liquor licences in the names of family members or entities controlled by them and operated liquor businesses indirectly.

Jarkiholi’s earlier Excise portfolio

Satish Jarkiholi had served as Karnataka’s Excise Minister from 2013 to 2016. The Jarkiholi family has substantial business interests in the sugar and liquor sectors.

It remains unclear whether the minister was present at any of the premises being searched when the ED teams began their operations. It is also not clear whether the fresh case against him originated from information gathered during the agency’s June searches involving Y. Manjunath.

The searches are continuing and further details are awaited.
