Police Commissioner Bhushan Borse said the survey was carried out for one hour at two major traffic junctions—Ramdev Circle and Globe Circle. A total of 2,820 two-wheeler riders were observed during the exercise. Of them, 2,589 riders were wearing helmets, while 231 riders were found without protective headgear.
At Ramdev Circle, 1,134 out of 1,242 riders were wearing helmets, resulting in a compliance rate of 91.3%. At Globe Circle, 1,455 of 1,578 riders complied with helmet rules, recording a slightly higher compliance rate of 92.2%.
According to the police, the improvement is the result of continuous awareness campaigns, strict enforcement of traffic rules, and the implementation of the ‘No Helmet, No Petrol’ initiative at fuel stations across the city.

Officials also noted a decline in traffic violations and said sustained public awareness efforts have encouraged more riders to follow safety norms. They reiterated that wearing a helmet is one of the most effective ways to reduce the risk of serious injuries and fatalities in road accidents.
The City Police expressed confidence that continued enforcement and public cooperation will further improve helmet compliance and enhance road safety in Belagavi.
