Belagavi: On Wednesday, people enthusiastically celebrated the historic Kittur Vijayotsava at Kakati village, the birthplace of Rani Chennamma. District In-charge Minister Satish Jarkiholi inaugurated the event and emphasized the importance of spreading Rani Chennamma’s history across the state. Jarkiholi stated, “The Kittur Utsav is a grand effort to honor Rani Chennamma’s heroic struggle. Since her history begins at Kakati, we hold this symbolic inauguration here every year.”
Focus on Kittur and Kakati Development
During his speech, Minister Jarkiholi assured the public of future events across various taluks to promote Kittur’s history further. He also outlined plans to develop Kittur and Kakati, ensuring the preservation and promotion of Rani Chennamma’s legacy.
Speakers like Siddhagouda Sunagar, Ayyappa Kolekar, and S.D. Patil addressed the audience, while Gurudevi Huleppanavarmath delivered the keynote lecture. MLA Asif Sait, BUDA Chairman Laxmanrao Chingale, and ZP CEO Rahul Shinde also attended the event.
Grand Procession Marks Start of Celebrations
The day’s festivities began with a grand procession through Kakati village. Religious leaders such as Shivashiddha Someshwara Shivacharya Swamiji and Uday Swamiji blessed the event. Belagavi Subdivision Officer Shravan Nayak and other officials participated as well.
