The meeting, held at the Belagavi Tourist Bungalow, was attended by Deputy Commissioner Mohammed Roshan, Karnataka Defence Estates Officer Divya Hosur, Airport Director Thyagarajan, Police Commissioner Bhushan, and Indian Air Force officials.

Shettar said the construction of the new Terminal-2 building has made considerable progress, but the parallel taxi track remains a key requirement for the airport’s future expansion. He noted that the IAF land needed for the project has not yet been transferred, while the district administration is required to provide an equivalent extent and value of land to the Air Force in exchange.

Expressing concern over the delay, Shettar said the pending land transfer has slowed down critical airport infrastructure works. He directed the district administration and Defence Estates officials to review the matter on priority and take immediate steps to complete the proposed land exchange.

Highlighting Belagavi’s rapid growth, the MP stressed that the airport expansion should be expedited to meet the increasing needs of the region and improve air connectivity for the public.
