Belagavi, May 18: MP Jagadish Shetter chaired the Aerodrome Advisory Committee meeting and reviewed the ongoing development works at Belagavi Airport on Monday.

During the meeting, discussions were held with senior Air Force officials regarding the transfer of nearly 15 acres of Air Force land required for the construction of a parallel taxi track at the airport. Shetter requested the officials to extend necessary cooperation for the airport expansion project.
He also interacted with officials of IndiGo and Star Air and urged them to introduce flight services from Belagavi to major cities such as Pune, Chennai, Ahmedabad and Jodhpur. Airline representatives reportedly responded positively to the proposal.
The meeting further discussed the proposed four-lane road connecting Belagavi city to Sambra Airport to ease traffic congestion. Airport authorities informed the committee that discussions would be held with Public Works Department engineers for the early implementation of the project.

To improve passenger convenience, Shetter instructed NWKRTC officials to start bus services between Belagavi Airport and Belagavi Railway Station in sync with flight schedules.
Responding to a request from airline officials, Shetter also directed senior police officers to take necessary steps for establishing a police outpost within the airport premises to maintain law and order.
Before the meeting, committee members inspected the progress of the under-construction Terminal-2 building. Officials were instructed to complete the work by July 2027.
Several committee members, airport officials and representatives from various departments attended the meeting.
