Dispatch of EVMs to polling stations under tight security: District Collector Nitesh Patil.
Belgaum, 5th April (Karnataka News): After the first randomisation, the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) distributed by constituencies will be sent to the eighteen polling stations of the district with tight security as per the guidelines of the Election Commission, said District Collector Nitesh Patil, who is also the District Collector.
He spoke after reviewing the process of sending the EVMs to the respective constituencies according to randomization in the EVM warehouse of the Election Commission of India located in Hindalaga village here on Wednesday 5th April.
In randomization, 5321 ballot units, 5321 control units and 5765 VVPATs allocated to the 18 assembly constituencies of the district will be sent to the polling stations after affixing stickers with the number and names of the respective polling station and securing them in trunks and sealing them.
He explained that EVMs will be transported in GPS-equipped container vehicles with tight police security.
He said that the representatives of political parties will also be present and will be allowed to watch the EVM transportation process.
For each polling station, the teams headed by the respective Returning Officers got the EVMs allotted to them as per the randomization in the warehouse according to the serial number as per the guidelines of the Election Commission.
District Collector Nitesh Patil himself went to the individual counters of each constituency for some time and checked and distributed the serial numbers of the electronic voting machines.
He directed the Election Officers to be careful not to cause any confusion in this case.
Electoral officers of various constituencies such as Geeta Kaulagi, Dr Rajeev Coolera, Dr Rudresh Ghali, Balaram Chavan, Rajasekhar Dambala, Nodal Officers Pritam Nasalapure and others were present.
