B. Shankaranand, a seven-time MP from the Chikkodi constituency, lived on Club Road during his tenure. He is remembered for his significant contributions to the nation as a parliamentarian and Union minister. MLA Abhay Patil, while supporting the proposal, highlighted Shankaranand’s lasting impact on the state and Belagavi city.
Congress corporators, led by MLA Asif Raju Sait, also backed the initiative, showcasing bipartisan support. BCC Deputy Commissioner Laxmi Nippanikar stated that a detailed proposal would be submitted to the government for final approval.
