Children Abandon Seniors After Property Transfers
Many elderly parents report that their children left them in hospitals after transferring property rights. Medical Education Minister Sharan Prakash Patil has urged authorities to cancel such property transfers under the Senior Citizens Act, 2007, ensuring better protection for seniors.
Government to Enforce Strict Legal Action
Revenue Minister Krishna Byre Gowda warned that children who neglect or abandon parents risk losing inheritance rights. The government has instructed medical institute heads to file complaints and assist legal authorities in holding violators accountable.
Authorities Arrange Shelter for Abandoned Seniors
BIMS officials have provided retirement home accommodations for 70 seniors, while others continue receiving hospital care. The government has also launched awareness campaigns to educate citizens about their legal responsibility to support elderly parents.
The Karnataka government remains committed to protecting senior citizens by ensuring they receive proper care, shelter, and justice.
