Government to End Contract Hiring for Civic Workers
Currently, many pourakarmikas work under contracts without job security. Siddaramaiah confirmed that the government will now hire them directly and provide each worker with a fixed salary of ₹17,000 per month. This plan not only offers stability but also recognizes the hard work of these civic workers.
Importantly, the Chief Minister pointed out that the decision to regularize these jobs started under the previous government. However, his team is taking real steps to implement it. As a result, thousands of families across the state will benefit.
More Support for Rural Workers and the Disabled
Siddaramaiah didn’t stop there. He also announced that drivers and operators working under panchayats will begin receiving minimum wages. This step ensures that even rural workers get the financial respect they deserve.
To further support social inclusion, the government will provide three-wheelers to eligible persons with disabilities. With this, people with mobility challenges can move freely and access more opportunities.
Smart Kalamandir to Drive Local Growth
The newly built Smart Kalamandir, which cost ₹47.8 crore, is expected to boost local jobs and revenue. Siddaramaiah urged officials to auction the shops and offices inside the complex and use the income for city development.
Not only will this help local entrepreneurs, but it will also fuel Belagavi’s economy. Moreover, it aligns with the larger Smart City goals.
Belagavi to See More Smart City Projects Soon
The Smart Kalamandir is part of Karnataka’s Smart City Mission, which received a total of ₹6,928 crore. Of this, ₹3,500 crore came from the state government. In Belagavi, several projects are in their final stages. The CM promised to inaugurate these soon and speed up urban development.
Belagavi Set for Balanced Progress
With Smart Kalamandir opening and jobs becoming permanent, Siddaramaiah outlined a vision of growth with fairness. His announcements reflect a strong commitment to both infrastructure and social justice. As the Smart City work continues, Belagavi is clearly on the path to a cleaner, fairer, and more vibrant future.
