BJP State President BY Vijayendra has claimed that a “battle for the chair” has already begun within the Karnataka government. Speaking to reporters at Belagavi Airport on Tuesday, he said that everyone is currently focused on the Bihar Assembly elections, and the situation in Karnataka politics will become clearer after that.

Vijayendra visited Gurlapur village in Mudalagi taluk, where farmers have been protesting for an increase in the sugarcane procurement price. “I have come here as Yediyurappa’s son and as a supporter of farmers. The state government must act immediately and hold discussions with sugar factory owners to solve this issue,” he said.

He accused the government of turning a blind eye to farmers’ distress despite the sugar industry generating over ₹50,000–₹60,000 crore annually for the state. “During heavy rains in North Karnataka, ministers didn’t even visit affected areas. Farmers are again on the streets demanding justice, but the government has shown no concern,” Vijayendra remarked.
Recalling past struggles, he mentioned the 2014 incident where farmer Vittal Arabavi lost his life during a protest over sugarcane pricing. “Back then, my father, Yediyurappa, stood firmly with the farmers and succeeded. Today, it’s our responsibility to support them again,” he added.
Vijayendra emphasized that the BJP would stand with the farmers until the state government fulfills their rightful demands and ensures fair sugarcane prices.
