In a letter to the Chief Wildlife Warden, CZA Member Secretary Dr. V.K. Bennett stated that a formal complaint has demanded an independent investigation into the incident. The complaint, filed by Pramod M.V., alleges that the blackbucks died due to Hemorrhagic Septicemia and blames official negligence for the outbreak.

The complainant also pointed out that unlike other zoos in Karnataka, the Belagavi mini zoo does not have a health advisory committee. He added that experts had issued warnings two months ago about a possible bacterial infection, but authorities failed to take preventive action.
Seeking accountability, the complainant has urged the CZA to conduct a thorough probe and initiate disciplinary action against officials responsible for the lapses.
