Addressing a press conference on Thursday, chamber president Prabhakar Nagaramunoli said the frequent cancellation of flights is having a serious impact on industries, exporters, employment, and overall business activity in the region. He pointed out that while air traffic remains high, Belagavi has been disproportionately affected after the suspension of the UDAN scheme.

The chamber stated that air connectivity to major cities such as Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, and New Delhi is crucial for the region’s economic growth. A representation has already been submitted to airport authorities, and a delegation plans to meet Union ministers to explain the situation.
If the issue is not resolved at the earliest, the chamber warned that it would be forced to launch strong protests. Representatives from various trade and industry associations were present at the press conference and echoed concerns over the growing losses due to reduced air connectivity.
