Belagavi Shobha Yatra Row: Case Against Harshita Thakur

Belagavi Rural Police have registered a case against Maharashtra-based Hindu leader Harshita Thakur and six others for allegedly hurting religious sentiments during a procession held in Machhe village near Belagavi on Sunday.

The incident reportedly took place during a shobha yatra organised ahead of the Akhand Hindu Sammelan. According to the complaint, when the procession reached near the Ansari Dargah, Harshita Thakur allegedly stopped the vehicle she was standing on and made objectionable gestures towards the religious place. It is also alleged that she delivered a speech at the subsequent gathering that could provoke communal sentiments.

The complaint was filed by Abdul Khader Mujawar. Based on it, police have booked the event organisers, including Belagavi residents Suprith Simpi, Shrikant Kamble, Bettappa Tarihal, Shivaji Shahapurkar, Gangaram Tarihal, and Kallappa, at the Belagavi Rural Police Station.
