Belagavi: In a major crackdown on illegal fuel transportation, Malmaruti Police in Belagavi seized a tanker carrying around 17,000 litres of diesel within the limits of Malmaruti Police Station.

The operation led to the seizure of property worth approximately ₹27 lakh, including a Tata tanker bearing registration number GJ-12-BT-7089 valued at ₹12 lakh and diesel worth about ₹15 lakh. The accused have been booked under the Essential Commodities Act, 1955, relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, and the Motor Spirit and High Speed Diesel (Regulation of Supply) Order, 2005. The case has been registered as Crime No. 16/2026 at Malmaruti Police Station.

The action was carried out by Police Inspector B.R. Gaddekar, Sub-Inspectors Honappa Talwar, Shreeshail, Uday Patil, P.M. Mohite, and their team. Assistant investigating officers and staff also played a key role in the successful operation.
Belagavi City Police Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner of Police have congratulated the entire team for their commendable efforts in curbing illegal fuel trade.
