VTU Convocation in Belagavi: 8,702 PG Degrees Awarded

Belagavi: Karnataka Governor Thaawar Chand Gehlot on Saturday said that technology should be used to solve the problems of common people and contribute to national development. He was speaking while presiding over the 25th Annual Convocation (Part-2) of Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) at its Belagavi campus, Jnana Sangama.

The Governor said Karnataka has consistently played a leading role in knowledge creation, innovation and good governance, and remains at the forefront of information technology, biotechnology, space science and higher education. He added that the youth of the country are moving ahead with the vision of building a “Developed India”.

At the convocation, a total of 8,702 students were awarded postgraduate degrees. Among them, 96 students secured ranks and 25 students received gold medals.

Rear Admiral Vikram Menon, Flag Officer Commanding, Karnataka Naval Area, said VTU’s initiative to establish a Centre of Excellence in Aerospace and Defence, along with proposed MTech programmes in Defence Technology, reflects the university’s commitment to future-ready skill development. He assured full support for collaborative agreements with the Naval Base.

VTU Vice-Chancellor Prof S Vidyashankar, Registrar Prof UJ Ujwal, Prof Prasad B Rampure, members of the Academic Council and Executive Committee were present.
