A private training aircraft operated by Redbird Flying Training Academy Limited made a forced landing in an open field in Karnataka’s Vijayapura district on Sunday afternoon, according to police.

The two-seater aircraft crashed at Mangaluru village in Babaleshwar taluk, about 100 km east of Belagavi airport. Both occupants, including the pilot, survived the incident and were shifted to a nearby hospital with injuries.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) confirmed that the aircraft involved was a Cessna 172 with registration number VT-EUC, operating as part of a training flight. Preliminary information suggests that the aircraft was flying from Kalaburagi to Belagavi when the incident occurred.
Sources said the aircraft broke into multiple parts after the crash. The condition of the injured was not immediately known. Further investigation is underway.
