According to passers-by, the animal was allegedly seen in dense bushes within a college campus on Saturday. Acting on the information, forest officials rushed to the spot and conducted inspections at multiple locations in and around the area. As a precautionary measure, a cage has been placed behind the CPEd Ground to capture the animal if spotted.

However, officials clarified that there is no confirmed evidence so far. No CCTV footage or other proof has been found to establish the presence of a leopard in the area.

Deputy Conservator of Forests (DCF) NE Kranti said that while there is no official confirmation, staff are maintaining strict vigil based on inputs received from citizens to ensure public safety and prevent panic.

Officials also recalled a similar incident reported in 2022 in the Golf Course area, which led to an extensive search operation involving police, trained dogs, and elephants. The animal was never traced.

The Forest Department has urged residents to remain calm and immediately report any credible sightings to authorities.
