Belagavi, March 2, 2026:
The Belagavi City Police Commissioner has announced a two-day prohibition on the sale of liquor within the Belagavi City Police Commissionerate limits in view of Holi and Rang Panchami celebrations.

According to the official order, liquor sales will be banned from 2:00 PM on March 2, 2026, until 11:59 PM on March 3, 2026.
The order has been issued under Section 21(1) of the Karnataka Excise Act, 1965, and Section 31 of the Karnataka Police Act, 1963, to maintain law and order and ensure public safety during the festival period.

During the ban, all liquor shops, wine stores, bars, clubs, hotels serving alcohol, and KSBCL depots will remain closed. Authorities have also been instructed to seal excise-licensed premises and take necessary measures to prevent the sale and transportation of liquor.
Excise officials and law enforcement authorities have been directed to take appropriate action, if required, to maintain peace and public order during the festival celebrations.
