Belagavi: A court in Belagavi has sentenc*d a 22-year-old man to 37 years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of ₹1.25 lakh in a case under the Protection of Children from S*xual Offences (POC$O) Act, 2012.

According to Kakati police, the accused, Rutesh Anil Bosale, a resident of Kangrali (BK) in Belagavi, lured a minor girl with sweets on June 1, 2025, the day school results were announced, and took her to his empty house where he s*xually assault*d her. He allegedly threatened to kill her if she reported the incident.
Police said the accused later repeated the offence during a school holiday. Following a complaint, he was arrested on June 10, 2025.
The District and Sessions Special Court in Belagavi, presided over by Judge CM Pushpalatha, delivered the verdict on March 6, 2026, sentencing the accused to 37 years of rigorous imprisonment and imposing a fine of ₹1.25 lakh.
