In the past seven days, the maximum temperature has risen by 5°C, while the minimum temperature has surged by 8°C. Typically, April temperatures in Belagavi range between 34°C and 36°C, but this year’s rise has intensified the heatwave conditions.
The soaring temperatures have begun to affect daily life. Afternoon hours are seeing reduced movement in marketplaces, and agricultural activities have also slowed down. Residents are increasingly seeking relief in cold storage spaces and juice centers, leading to a spike in demand for cold beverages, sugarcane juice, coconut water, buttermilk, and traditional drinks like solkadhi and ambil.

The heat is also taking a toll on health, with cases of headaches, eye irritation, dizziness, and fever on the rise. Hospitals are reporting increased patient visits due to heat-related issues.
Doctors advise citizens to stay hydrated, avoid stepping out during peak afternoon hours, and wear loose, cotton clothing. With forecasts indicating a continued rise in temperature, residents are urged to take necessary precautions to cope with the intense summer heat.
