Belagavi: In a major breakthrough, Belagavi police have arrested five individuals involved in a series of house burglaries and recovered gold and silver ornaments worth ₹67.9 lakh.

According to Police Commissioner Bhushan Borase, three of the accused directly carried out the thefts, while two others were responsible for storing the stolen jewellery. The arrests helped police crack 11 burglary cases registered across Mal Maruti, APMC and Market police station limits.
The seized items include around 415.9 grams of gold jewellery worth ₹64.4 lakh and 1,329.7 grams of silver ornaments valued at ₹3.4 lakh. The operation was led by Mal Maruti police, who were commended for their efforts.
Police also highlighted the success of the “lockhouse beat system,” encouraging residents to inform authorities before leaving homes locked, helping reduce theft incidents in the city.
