Shots Fired at Advocate’s Home in Belagavi

Belagavi, April 27: Unidentified assailants opened fire at the residence of advocate Pooja Kakatakar on Mandoli Road in the early hours of Sunday, causing panic in the area.

The incident took place between 1am and 2am, when shots were fired at the first floor of the house. A windowpane was shattered, and a bullet mark was found. Kakatakar’s daughter was reportedly studying in the room at the time, but no injuries were reported.

Police arrived at the scene shortly after and conducted a preliminary investigation. Evidence, including the damaged windowpane and a bullet, has been sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) for analysis.

A case has been registered at Belagavi Rural police station, and further investigation is ongoing. Police have provided protection to Kakatakar. Officials suspect the incident may be linked to a case she is currently handling, though the exact motive is yet to be determined.
