Officials informed that the Belagavi-Kittur-Dharwad new railway line project is facing delays due to pending land acquisition and non-transfer of land by the Karnataka government. Around 1,430 acres have been identified for acquisition.
The meeting also discussed the proposed Belagavi-Parkanatti-Gokak-Yadwad and Lokapur-Ramdurg-Savadatti-Dharwad railway lines. Shettar urged officials to push the proposals with the Railway Board and begin survey work at the earliest.

Concern was raised over the slow pace of development works at Belagavi and Ghataprabha railway stations under the PM Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, following which officials were directed to speed up execution.
Discussions were also held on developing Sambra or Desur as alternative railway stations for Belagavi, reviving Belagavi-Manuguru train services, and introducing new train services on the Bengaluru-Mumbai and Belagavi-Londa-Goa routes.
