Belagavi: The district administration has stepped up preparations for the upcoming Ganeshotsav, urging festival committees and citizens to ensure that celebrations are grand, organised and peaceful. Authorities have also announced strict rules on DJs, loudspeakers, pandal structures, idol heights and security arrangements.

Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Roshan, who chaired a preparatory meeting with Ganesh festival committee representatives and idol makers at Kumar Gandharva Kalamandir on Thursday, said all government departments are coordinating with the district administration to ensure that arrangements are completed well before Ganesh Chaturthi. The meeting was jointly organised by the district administration and the Belagavi City Corporation (BCC).
Road repairs to be monitored
Roshan said L&T has been directed to fill potholes and expedite ongoing road works across the city ahead of the festival. He said the progress of these works would be personally monitored in coordination with the municipal commissioner and police commissioner.
The Deputy Commissioner also assured financial assistance to Ganesh festival committees towards electricity charges and appealed to organisers and the public to cooperate with the authorities for smooth celebrations.
DJs banned, loudspeakers restricted after 10 pm
Police Commissioner Bhushan Borase said strict measures would be implemented to maintain law and order during the festival. The use of DJs has been completely banned, while obscene songs will not be permitted during celebrations.
Festival organisers must also ensure that loudspeakers are not used after 10 pm. Authorities said the restrictions are aimed at preventing disturbances and ensuring peaceful celebrations.
Organisers have also been instructed to comply with regulations concerning idol heights, electrical decorations and pandal structures. CCTV cameras must be installed at festival pandals, particularly to strengthen security and monitoring.
1,400 police personnel for festival duties
Borase said Belagavi has a population of around 14 lakh, with approximately 1,400 police personnel and 140 traffic police personnel. Considering their regular law-and-order responsibilities along with additional duties during Ganeshotsav, he appealed to festival committees to extend full cooperation to the police.
Sensitive locations will be kept under round-the-clock surveillance during the festival, he added.
Roads, cleanliness and immersion arrangements
Deputy Mayor Hanumant Kongali said priority would be given to filling potholes, repairing roads and cleaning the city ahead of the celebrations. Special attention will also be given to cleaning and preparing immersion ponds.
Municipal Commissioner Karthik M said arrangements for the multi-day festival would be completed on priority. During idol immersion, the civic body will deploy cranes, technical personnel and trained divers at immersion ponds to ensure safety.
The authorities have appealed to Ganeshotsav organisers and citizens to follow all regulations and cooperate with the administration and police to make Belagavi’s unique Ganeshotsav a peaceful and harmonious celebration.
