Belagavi: Belagavi Cantonment Board CEO Sudam Manchalwar has urged contractors and citizens not to be misled by uncertainty surrounding the proposed transfer of Cantonment Board land to the Belagavi City Corporation.

Manchalwar said the land transfer proposal is currently under consideration by the state government and the Defence Ministry. The Cantonment Board had sought the transfer of 112 acres two years ago, while the district administration later proposed transferring 756 acres. Both proposals have been forwarded separately for examination.
The uncertainty has affected participation in Cantonment Board tenders, with some contractors and citizens concerned about the validity of ongoing works and contracts following a possible transfer.
Clarifying the issue, Manchalwar said all tenders were floated after obtaining the required approvals and in accordance with rules and regulations. Contractors, he said, need not worry about the validity of existing tenders or contracts.
He added that the Board’s 112-acre proposal was prepared after considering administrative requirements, technical aspects and Army-related concerns. The Army has reportedly objected to the district administration’s proposal for transferring the larger area.
Manchalwar reiterated that the land transfer process is separate from the Board’s routine administrative functions and assured that development works and tender procedures would continue as per established norms.
