In view of the recent rise in violent incidents, the Belagavi City Police carried out a special operation under the “Anti-Stabbing Squad” initiative across city and rural subdivision limits to maintain law and order.

Police teams conducted intensive checks on suspicious persons and vehicles in various police station limits. During the operation, two separate cases were registered in the Malmaruti and Khadebazar police station areas for illegal possession of dangerous weapons. Sharp swords and knives were seized from the accused.

Sword Seized in Malmaruti Police Station Limits
During checking by the Anti-Stabbing Squad in Jyotirling Galli, Kanbargi, police detained Amol Shrikant Wagh (30), a resident of Kanbargi, for allegedly carrying a sharp iron sword in public and creating fear among residents.
The accused was taken into custody by PSI P.M. Mohite and staff of Malmaruti Police Station. A case has been registered under Section 27(1) of the Arms Act, 1959, and Section 97 of the Karnataka Police Act, 1963.
Police said further investigation is underway.
