Belagavi, June 15: With the monsoon setting in, residents of several flood-prone localities in Belagavi are once again bracing for flooding and waterlogging, citing encroachments
The Belgaum city is not less than any historical place as we have so many incredible old temples, forts and places which makes the city look more pure . Yes!! One of the oldest temple in our city is Military Mahadev Temple situated in Camp Cantonment area which is one of the prime location of our city. The foundation stone of Military Mahadev Temple was laid on January 18, 1954.
The temple was opened to public on January 24, 1955 by Lieutenant General S.M. Shrinagesh, General Officer and Commander-in-Chief Southern Command.
The temple remarkably is clean and well-maintained. It is so called because of its long-standing use for worship by army personnel and of course, it was later thrown open to the public. People of our city love to spend their time with their loved ones as the area of the temple is big enough and maintained by the officials.
The temple boasts intricate carvings that are similar to the carvings found in prominent temples across South India. It has for long been used as a place of worship by Army personnel, which is why it is called the Military Mahadeva Temple. Devotees can also visit a mini zoo nearby that houses deer and emus.
