On Tuesday, the Union Minister of the State for Home Nityanand Rai informed that their were many proposals including the representations given by the various organizations and individuals to declare some areas of the border as “Union Territory”.
But further he informed in the written format, that the government has no proposal under considering to declare the areas dominated by the Marathi speaking people residing in Karnataka bordering Maharashtra as the Union Territory.
Further Rai discussed the average population of Marathi speaking people as per the census in 2011, in the border approximately 55,98,325. As per the reports, this ratio estimated the presence of Marathi speaking in various parts such as Nipani, Sadalga, Sankeshwar, Kamalnagar, Ichalkaranji.
