MP Shettar Reviews Belagavi Railway Station Upgrade
Belagavi, June 4 – Member of Parliament Jagadish Shettar visited the Belagavi Railway Station to inspect the progress of ongoing infrastructure projects. These works are part of the Prime Minister’s Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, which aims to modernize railway stations across the country.

The Belagavi station is undergoing significant upgrades, with a total budget of ₹18 crore. Major projects currently in progress include the construction of a Foot Over Bridge (FOB), the installation of elevators, and the development of a second station entrance. These enhancements aim to improve accessibility, ensure commuter safety, and provide a better overall travel experience.
Shettar Urges Timely Completion and Quality Standards
During his visit, MP Shettar expressed concern over the slow pace of the Foot Over Bridge construction. He emphasized the inconvenience caused to passengers, particularly senior citizens and differently-abled individuals. Therefore, he instructed the railway engineers and contractors to accelerate the construction process. He firmly directed them to complete all works by December 2025, while maintaining strict quality standards.
Additionally, Shettar highlighted the importance of public communication. He suggested that the railway authorities launch an awareness campaign to inform passengers about the new second entry point, which has already been built. This will help travelers take full advantage of the improved facilities.
Passenger-Centric Measures Recommended
To further improve passenger convenience, Shettar recommended the following measures:
- Implement a transport support system within the station for the elderly and physically challenged.
- Maintain high construction quality across all projects to ensure long-term benefits.
- Ensure the new facilities are easily accessible and safe for all categories of passengers.

Speaking to the media, MP Shettar underlined the growing footfall at Belagavi Railway Station. He pointed out that modern infrastructure is not just a need but a right for the citizens. The inspection was attended by several officials, including Railway Engineer Shantila Kumar, Assistant Commercial Manager Rajkumar, Belagavi Mayor Mangesh Pawar, Deputy Mayor Vani Joshi, and several city corporators. Senior BJP leaders such as Subhash Patil (Rural District President) and Vijay Kodaganur (City President) were also present.
