📈 Zoo Set to Become Medium Category
Currently, the zoo covers 37 hectares and holds mini zoo status. However, officials expect to upgrade it to a medium zoo within two months, pending final approvals. This upgrade will allow the zoo to accommodate more species and offer better facilities for animals and visitors.
In addition, the upgrade will help the zoo meet higher conservation and animal care standards.
🏥 New Support Facilities Nearing Completion
Besides visitor attractions, the zoo is finishing several key support facilities. The team is setting up a fully equipped animal hospital, a food processing unit for preparing fresh meals, and a post-mortem room to examine animal health issues.
These additions will improve the zoo’s ability to care for animals, respond quickly to health emergencies, and manage food safety.
🌿 A New Hub for Learning and Tourism
Furthermore, the 3D auditorium and museum will attract students, researchers, families, and tourists. Local schools and colleges can plan educational trips here to help students understand biodiversity, endangered species, and conservation efforts.
For tourists, these new features provide an extra reason to visit Belagavi. The city already attracts visitors due to its rich culture and history. Therefore, the upgraded zoo will become a key regional attraction.
🚀 A Step Forward for Eco-Tourism
Belagavi’s Rani Chennamma Zoo is more than a place to see animals. With these upgrades, it will become a center for eco-tourism, conservation awareness, and wildlife education. The Karnataka Forest Department uses the zoo to educate the public about wildlife protection and environmental responsibility.
As a result, the zoo will offer visitors a more enjoyable, informative, and meaningful experience.
