Belagavi MP Jagadish Shettar has urged authorities to take steps to establish cold storage facilities in Bailhongal and Savadatti taluks, citing strong demand from farmers in the region.

Presiding over the third quarterly DCC–DLRC meeting for 2025–26 at the district panchayat hall on Tuesday, Shettar said cold storage units would help farmers safely store vegetables, fruits, and other agricultural produce. He asked NABARD officials to inspect the requirement and initiate necessary action.
The MP also reviewed the recently launched cold storage facility at the Belagavi APMC yard and directed officials to ensure its proper management.
Additionally, Shettar called for extending low-interest loans to street vendors under the PM SVANidhi scheme and other central government schemes. He also instructed banks to deploy security guards at ATM centres to ensure customer safety.
