Probe Ordered After Guns, Drugs Thrown Into Hindalga Jail

Belagavi: Police Commissioner Borase Bhushan Gulabrao visited the Central Prison at Hindalga on Thursday following reports that unidentified miscreants threw two parcels containing guns and drugs into the jail premises. The incident came to light after a video was widely circulated on social media.

The Police Commissioner held a meeting with officials from the Prisons and Correctional Services Department and the Karnataka State Industrial Security Force (KSISF) to review the incident and examine the videos. He later told reporters that a comprehensive investigation would be conducted. The jail falls under the jurisdiction of the Belagavi Rural Police Station.

Inspector-General of Police (Prisons and Correctional Services, North Zone) T.P. Shesha clarified that the viral CCTV footage was from a month ago and confirmed that a case has been registered. He added that recent search operations inside the jail led to the recovery of mobile phones and other prohibited items, and indicated that the primary lapse appeared to be in the external security managed by the KSISF.
