EC Tightens Voter List Revision in Belagavi

Belagavi Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Roshan has directed officials to strictly follow the Election Commission of India’s rules and guidelines while carrying out the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.

He was speaking at a divisional-level training workshop on voter list revision held at the central hall of Suvarna Soudha in Halga on Tuesday. The workshop was attended by additional deputy commissioners, electoral registration officers, assistant electoral registration officers, election tahsildars and technical programmers from across the Belagavi division.

Focus on Accurate Voter Mapping

The Deputy Commissioner said the process of identifying and mapping duplicate voter registrations in Belagavi North and South Assembly constituencies has already been completed. However, several citizens are yet to participate in the mapping exercise.

He instructed officials to complete the remaining work immediately and ensure that eligible voters who were left out are included in the electoral rolls through proper field surveys.

Roshan also asked electoral registration officers and assistant electoral registration officers to carry out their responsibilities carefully and without any errors.

Training on Electoral Roll Revision

Joint Chief Electoral Officer V. Raghavendra conducted a training session for officials on the Special Intensive Revision process and explained the procedures to be followed as per Election Commission guidelines.

He emphasized the need for coordination among all departments to ensure the smooth implementation of the revision process. He also warned officials to handle election-related duties responsibly, noting that disciplinary action had been taken in the past against officers for repeated violations of election rules.

  • Name corrections
  • Address changes
  • Removal of deceased and duplicate voters
  • Use of online election services

Resident Deputy Commissioner Vijaykumar Honakeri and several other officials from the Belagavi division were also present at the workshop.
