Following the directive, officials in the corporation’s council section have started collecting asset declarations from corporators. According to sources, 50 corporators have already submitted their details, while information from the remaining eight members is still awaited.
Corporation officials said the pending corporators have been informed about the Lokayukta’s instructions, and the complete report will be forwarded to the Karnataka Lokayukta department once all declarations are received.
As per government norms, elected representatives are required to disclose their assets at the beginning of every financial year. The declarations include details related to land, houses, commercial properties, bank deposits, investments, vehicles, loans and other financial transactions.

Officials stated that the BCC must ensure submission of complete information before the June 30 deadline. Failure to furnish details or attempts to hide information could attract action under relevant rules.
The move comes amid increasing complaints and allegations regarding disproportionate assets of public representatives. Residents have also reportedly approached the Lokayukta over the financial dealings of some corporators.
The government has made it mandatory for elected representatives to submit asset details both to the government and directly to the Lokayukta department for verification. Any unusual increase in assets may be examined to verify the source of income.
