The directive comes after more than 75 days of continuous agitation by pro-Kannada groups, border activists and Kannada supporters, who have been pressing authorities to facilitate the passage of the resolution.
In a letter dated June 8, the regional commissioner sought factual details on the protests, allegations raised by activists, and the status of efforts to place the resolution before the corporation council. The report will also address claims that BJP councillors, despite holding a majority in the 58-member council, have not moved the resolution.

The issue was previously discussed at a meeting chaired by Public Works Minister Satish Jarkiholi, where officials were asked to provide complete details. Protesters have welcomed the latest intervention, calling it a significant step towards resolving the long-pending demand.
With the agitation entering a crucial phase, activists are urging the government to act on the forthcoming report and take steps to pass the pro-Karnataka resolution.
