Hundreds of protesters from 10 villages, including nine in Hukkeri taluk and one in Belagavi taluk, continued their round-the-clock sit-in outside the North Zone Irrigation Department office in Belagavi, urging the government to clear their long-pending compensation claims.
In a symbolic show of protest, the farmers tethered cattle outside the office and stockpiled fodder at the site, signalling their determination to continue the agitation until their demands are met.

The protesters accused officials of misleading the government and deliberately delaying the compensation process. Raising slogans against the administration, they vowed not to withdraw the protest until the pending claims are settled.
The agitating farmers warned that they would intensify their protest if the government failed to respond, alleging that years of delay in providing compensation have pushed many affected families into hardship.
