Corruption is everywhere. No matter what religion, region, country you come from, you will eventually face corruption. To prevent the growing corruption, every year, on 9th of December, Anti-corruption day is observed throughout the world. It explains the importance of eradication of corruption and also spreads awareness to reduce it.
The United Nations General Assembly accepted this proposal in 2013. The proposal was sitting on the table from 2005. It is approximated that around 1 trillion USD is used for bribing purposes every year. Also, around 2.3 trillion USD is stolen from bribe related reasons every year. To overcome this, Dec 9th is celebrated as Anti-corruption day.
The theme for 2020 is “United Against Corruption”. This theme is said to increase unity among all nations to fight and curb corruption.
