Belagavi: Belagavi MLA Abhay Patil met Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh in New Delhi to discuss key development initiatives aimed at boosting industrial growth and employment in the region.

During the meeting, Patil requested the Defence Minister to transfer defence land in Belagavi to the Karnataka government for the establishment of an IT and Semiconductor Park. He said the project would help transform Belagavi into a major technology and investment hub while creating employment opportunities for local youth.
As an alternative, Patil urged the Centre to set up a Defence Manufacturing Unit on the same land if transferring the property to the state government is not feasible. He said such a facility would strengthen the city’s industrial base, attract investments, and generate skilled jobs.
Highlighting Belagavi’s growth potential, Patil stressed the need for the Centre’s support in promoting industrial development and creating new opportunities for the region’s youth.
The proposal is expected to draw attention as both an IT-Semiconductor Park and a Defence Manufacturing Unit could play a significant role in shaping Belagavi’s industrial future.
