Belagavi: The Malmaruti Police in Belagavi have arrested a man accused of carrying out house burglaries by targeting homes whose occupants were away. The accused, identified as Ashwaq Khajasab Sathi (42), a resident of Kasai Galli in Belagavi, was taken into custody during a police operation.

According to police, the accused allegedly monitored houses in localities such as Aman Nagar and New Gandhi Nagar and broke into residences when family members were not at home. He is suspected of stealing gold ornaments from the targeted properties.
During the investigation, police recovered 169 grams of gold jewellery worth approximately ₹25.35 lakh from the accused’s possession.

The operation was conducted under the guidance of the Commissioner of Police, Belagavi, Deputy Commissioners of Police and senior officers of the Market Sub-Division. A team from Malmaruti Police Station, along with technical staff, played a key role in tracing and arresting the accused and recovering the stolen valuables.
The Belagavi Police Commissioner has commended the officers and staff involved in the successful operation.
