India is filled with the finest mountains in the world, be it Western Ghats in the south or Himalayas in the north, visiting mountains is a fun session. Today i.e. 11th December 2020 is observed as International Mountains Day.
Central Environment Minister, Shri Prakash Javadekar tweeted “India is home to the great Himalayas and many other mountain ranges with unique biodiversity. Mountain ecosystem plays an important role in shaping the sustainable development strategy of our country.” to celebrate International Mountains Day.
The theme for 2020 is “Mountain Biodiversity”. The United Nations declared the International Mountains Day to celebrate and to show gratitude towards mother nature, her rich diversity, beautiful landscape of mountains and also to address the threats faced by the mountains. Many of the mountains have lost its beauty because of global warming, climate change, commercial mining, logging, plastic pollution, deforestation and many more. So to overcome this and educate the people to save mother nature by avoiding the above reasons and from bad farming practices, International Mountains Day is observed.
Belagavi is also home to many of the mountains of western ghats. Thirty minutes of travel from the city will take you to unexplored nature and beautiful mountains that are home to many of the wild habitats. Team Marvelous Belgaum asks all the Belgaumites to explore the beauty of western ghats without damaging the ambiance by littering around the location. This will definitely be your best time with mother nature.
