Belagavi: Several Kannada organisations have urged the Karnataka government to reconsider its decision to hold the legislature’s monsoon session in Belagavi. Led by senior leader Ashok Chandaragi, the groups said heavy rainfall and possible flooding during the season would create major difficulties for officials, staff, and the public.

Speaking to reporters, Chandaragi said Belagavi faces severe problems during the rainy season, with rivers across the district likely to overflow. He added that government officials would already be occupied with rain-related responsibilities, making it an unsuitable time for the session.

Mahadev Talwar, president of Kittur Karnataka Sene, also criticised the decision, stating that people visiting the session to submit petitions and complete official work would face inconvenience due to the weather conditions.
The organisations have demanded that the legislature session continue to be held in Belagavi during the winter season, following the established practice.
