According to sources, the Siddaramaiah-led government had initially planned to convene the session in Belagavi during the second week of July. However, the proposal has reportedly been put on hold due to ongoing political developments and administrative considerations.
The anticipated Cabinet expansion has emerged as a key political priority for the government, and with the Congress high command closely monitoring developments, there is growing speculation that the session may instead be held in Bengaluru.
Following earlier indications from the government, the Belagavi district administration had already begun preparations for the session. Meetings were conducted to review arrangements related to accommodation, security, transportation, and other logistics for legislators, senior officials, and visiting dignitaries.
Adding to expectations, Legislative Council Chairman Basavaraj Horatti had publicly expressed support for holding the Monsoon Session in Belagavi, reinforcing hopes that the legislature would meet at Suvarna Vidhana Soudha.

However, officials say no fresh directives have been received from the government in recent weeks regarding session preparations. This has led to doubts within administrative circles about whether the Belagavi proposal has been shelved.
Despite the speculation, the state government has not yet issued a final decision. Political observers and residents of North Karnataka are now awaiting an official announcement on where the Monsoon Session will be held.
