Belgaum was highlighted over that period and other ruler had a bad eye over it, over the period of time dynasties like Vijayanagara emperors, Bijapur Sultans or Bahmanis, The Marathas (Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaja) and also by the end the Britishers too.
Having so long epic history, it legacy doesn’t end up over in history, many of the freedom fighters sacrificed they life for the freedom and to get free from crucial British rule and fort has been a witness of the same.
