Belagavi: 59 Live Bullets Found in Garbage Heap

Belagavi, June 17: In a significant security concern, police recovered 59 live bullets from a garbage heap in the Udyambag Industrial Area on Tuesday.

The ammunition was discovered by civic workers during routine waste segregation. After being alerted, personnel from the Udyambag police station reached the spot, inspected the area, and seized the live rounds.

According to preliminary findings, the recovered items were confirmed to be live ammunition. Police have launched an investigation to determine the type of firearms the bullets are meant for and to trace their origin.

Investigators are also expected to examine CCTV footage from nearby industrial establishments to identify those responsible for dumping the ammunition in a public place.

A case has been registered, and the seized bullets are likely to be sent for forensic examination. The incident has raised concerns over potential security lapses and the possible misuse of ammunition.
