Belagavi, April 23: The Belagavi City Corporation (BCC) has made a strong start to the financial year by collecting Rs 18.12 crore in property tax between April 1 and April 20, aided by the 5% rebate on early payments.

Civic officials said the collection is expected to rise further in the coming days, as taxpayers usually make payments towards the end of April to avail the rebate. The incentive has encouraged many citizens to clear their dues early.
There has also been a significant increase in digital transactions this year, with more people opting to pay property tax through online modes such as UPI, net banking, and the corporation’s official portal.
Despite being engaged in additional duties like voter list mapping and census-related work, revenue staff have maintained consistent collection efforts.
