Belagavi, April 14, 2026: In a move to address increasing traffic congestion and ensure smoother vehicular movement, the Belagavi City Police have introduced a one-way traffic system on Fort Road, a busy commercial stretch lined with numerous shops and heavy public activity.

The decision was taken after conducting a meeting with local traders and residents to understand their concerns. Officials also inspected the area and assessed traffic challenges firsthand. During consultations, nearly 80% of the public expressed support for implementing a one-way system.
As per the new arrangement:
- Vehicles will move from Deshpande Petrol Pump towards Mujawar Boot (west to east).
- Traffic from Jijamata Circle towards Deshpande Petrol Pump will move in the opposite direction (east to west).
Police officials stated that similar traffic measures may be introduced in other congested parts of the city after discussions with local stakeholders.
The Belagavi Police Commissioner has urged citizens to strictly follow traffic rules and cooperate with authorities to ensure smooth implementation of the new system.
